Winter triathlons held at the Snow farm have seen international athletes such as Richard and wife Elina Ussher compete. Local Wanaka athletes such as John Mezger, and Gavin Mason competed among the top class competition and are both tipped to be showing a strong interest in this year’s events, with the Winter Games Winter triathlon the overall goal
The event of the winter triathlon starts with a run, mountain bike and finishes with a cross country ski leg. The whole event will take the fastest competitors about an hour, with the more leisurely competitors up to 2 hours. All disciplines are performed on the ski trails of the snow farm.
It is a perfect way to learn new skills, improve your base fitness over the winter months, and expand your skills as a multisport athlete. Whether you have a triathlon, multisport or duathlon background and/or the ability to be a weekend warrior, this is for you.
If you are new to cross country skiing, but can run, and have a mountain bike that functions, then you are three quarters the way to succeeding in your first winter triathlon.
The Team up at the snow farm can get you moving and grooving on the snow and the rest will be an enjoyable way of stay fit and active over the long winter months.
