Established May 2010 the club already has some great achievements. The club modified the range to take the old targets (to be replaced this year by six new ones and then an additional planned six more). They ran a very successful youth camp last July with over twenty attendees and plan another camp for this July in the second week of the holidays. Club Championships were held in September and a Secondary School Championship on the same weekend as the Cross Country Ski Champs. New members are welcome. Contact the secretary Daphne at wanakabiathlon@gmail.com . If you are interested in learning this sport the Wanaka Biathlon Club is the place to start.
The club has weekend events and training courses. The sport is administered by the Wanaka Biathlon Club.
Ben Koons, Olivia Thomson, and younger sister Alex attended an IBU/IOC camp in Italy with Phill Thomson as coach and manager. These camps are held annually and we are hopeful that more young people will take up the incredible opportunity to attend. Olvia then went on to spend three months in Maine, USA with Alexei Sotskov who is New Zealand's National cross-country ski
coach. Olivia attended school in the USA and she enjoyed the experience, one to dream of!
All exciting stuff for a new club entering its second year of existence this season.
